ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
What is Male Chest Reduction?
Male chest reduction, also known as gynecomastia surgery, is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess breast tissue and fat in men. This condition, known as gynecomastia, can affect one or both sides of the chest and may be caused by hormonal changes, genetics, obesity, or medication side effects.
At Transform, our minimally invasive approach offers long-lasting results with minimal scarring, helping you achieve a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest contour.
Excess fat, excess tissue, or both?
Gynecomastia can involve excess fat, glandular tissue, or a combination of both. Your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate technique based on your anatomy.
Liposuction
Removes excess fat from the chest through small incisions. Ideal for patients whose gynecomastia is primarily caused by fatty tissue rather than glandular tissue.
- Excess fat deposits in the chest area
- Soft, fatty tissue that hasn't responded to exercise
- Minimal scarring through small incisions
- Can be combined with tissue excision if needed
Tissue Excision
Removes glandular breast tissue and excess skin to achieve a natural-looking, sculpted result. Required when firm glandular tissue is present beneath the nipple.
- Firm or dense glandular breast tissue
- Excess skin that needs removing
- Enlargement that hasn't responded to weight loss
- A desire for a flatter, more defined chest contour
A thorough consultation determines which approach is appropriate for you.
CANDIDACY
Is male chest reduction right for you?
Male chest reduction restores a natural, masculine chest contour and improves self-confidence and body image. The procedure is performed under local anesthetic for less risk and faster recovery, with minimal scarring through discreet incision techniques. Results are permanent when combined with a healthy lifestyle. This procedure is not a substitute for weight loss but is ideal for treating excess tissue that doesn’t respond to exercise.
- You are in good general health
- Your breast enlargement has remained stable
- You have realistic expectations about the outcome
- You are not significantly overweight
The goal is never to sell surgery. It is to ensure any procedure recommended is safe, appropriate, and likely to deliver a meaningful result.
THE PROCEDURE
What happens during surgery?
Gynecomastia surgery is typically performed under local anesthetic with or without sedation, making it a safe and comfortable experience with a faster recovery time. You’ll remain awake but relaxed, and the chest area will be completely numb during the procedure. The procedure usually takes 1 to 2 hours.
Incision and fat removal
1-2 hours
Small incisions are made either around the areola or within natural chest creases for discreet healing. Liposuction may be used to remove excess fat.
Tissue removal and compression
Compression garment for 4-6 weeks
Glandular tissue and skin are removed if necessary to achieve a natural-looking, sculpted result. After surgery, a compression garment is provided to support healing and maintain your new shape.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Recovery and aftercare
Most patients can return to light activities in about 1 to 2 weeks. Full recovery takes about 4 to 6 weeks. A compression garment is worn for 4 to 6 weeks to support healing and maintain your new shape.
PHASE 1
Weeks 1-2
Temporary swelling or bruising is normal. You will wear a compression garment for 4 to 6 weeks to support healing. Any post-operative discomfort is typically mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Avoid strenuous activity. Most patients return to light activities in 1 to 2 weeks.
PHASE 2
Weeks 3-4
Swelling continues to subside. Light exercise can gradually resume. Temporary changes in nipple sensation typically resolve during this period. Continue wearing the compression garment as directed.
PHASE 3
Months 5-6
Full recovery is typically complete. Scars fade significantly over time and are placed in discreet locations. Once excess fat and tissue are removed, they do not grow back. Maintaining a stable weight is essential for long-term results.
You’ll receive a personalized aftercare plan with clear instructions on wound care, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to support optimal healing.
